Explore Gold River

Gold River is the place you can lead the relaxed lifestyle 365 days per year.  With abundant wildlife, beautiful scenery, and every recreational adventure you can think of.  Gold River is the place to do it in!

Caving is popular in the surrounding area with the Upana Caves the most popular due to its easy designation.  Others like Thanksgiving Caves are more extreme but just as popular with the spelunkers that visit here every year.

There are an abundance of hiking trails close by the village and others that are only a short distance away by road.  Most of them are well maintained and some are maintained by nature.

Good sized lakes with plenty of fish are within walking distance and also easy to drive to.  Others are only a short drive up a local logging road or via the Head Bay Forestry road to Tahsis.

Mountain biking trails exist around the community with some well maintained while others are not.  Maps do exist among the biking community and as yet we haven’t received any for placement on the site.

In the fall local mushroom pickers are on the prowl for Chantrell and Pine mushrooms which grow naturally among the old growth and second growth forests.

Strathcona Park is only a stone’s throw away with all it’s beauty and remoteness for you to explore.

By Land

The opportunities to explore Gold River and surrounding area are endless.  ATVing, camping, caving, cycling, hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, rving and walking are just some of the activities that can be done by land.

By Lakes, Rivers and Oceans

Nootka Sound is only a boat ride away with some of the best halibut and salmon fishing in BC. The Gold River is reknown for its awesome steelhead fishing and kayaking oportunities.  Local lakes like Antler, Donner, Drum, Kunlin, Muchalat, Star and Upana are stocked with nice trout for casting and fly fishing enthusiasts.
