Gold River Municipal Campground
The Municipal Campground is located just 5 km from town along the banks of the Gold River; follow the directional signs through town. It is a rustic campground that provides rural services including picnic tables and fire pits at each site and pit toilets at locations within the site.
There are 20 campsites and an overflow camping area including a large covered shelter. There is a convenient pull-out boat ramp located at the entrance to the campground. The campground overnight fee is $18.00 per vehicle per night, open year round. Group rates are available.

Muchalaht Lake Campground
The Muchalat Lake Recreation site is located on the east side of Muchalat Lake, approx. 8 miles northwest of Gold River, via the Gold River mainline. It is a large open campground offering 40 sites with tables, toilets, a boat launch, dock and beach with swimming area.
Fees are $12.00 per night from May thru to September. There is an on-site host. The lake also offers good fishing for trout and water sports.
Cougar Creek Campground
Between Gold River and Tahsis, Cougar Creek Campsite, via the Nesook mainline, is situated on the shores of Tlupana Inlet. It is a fabulous and well maintained fishing campground offering 60 sites , approx. 40 parking spaces, 7 pit toilets (1 for handicap access), boat launch, fish cleaning facilities, dock and garbage pick-up. Fees: $12/night camping ($6 for seniors), $10/night parking or $40/week, $5 launching fee.
We hold an annual derby the 3rd week in August. Last year, $14,000 was raised from donations, memberships and the derby and was donated to the Nootka Sound Watershed Society for salmon enhancement in Nootka Sound. Cougar Creek is a popular destination for anglers and those wanting to explore the inside waters of beautiful Nootka Sound.
Conuma River Campground
Located approximately half way between Gold River and Tahsis, the Conuma River campsite is a rustic, wilderness campground with easy access. It is perfect for those just wanting to get away from civilization and enjoy the peace and quiet and beauty of nature.
If you’re looking something to bide your time, the Conuma River offers excellent coho fishing in the fall. Also, the Conuma Hatchery is just a short distance away with possible tours.
Moutcha Bay Resort
Whether it’s tenting or RVing, Moucha Bay Resort offers serviced and non-serviced sites with your choice of waterfront or rain forest locations. We accommodate RV’s of all shapes and sizes. Rates also include parking for one vehicle with a boat trailer and use of boat launch.
Public washrooms and showers are available for campers. Boat moorage is not included in site rentals. New this season is our camping yurt, a bare-bones room with four bunks for those who don’t want to tent it. For more info, go to www.moutchabay.com.
Buttle Lake Campsite
Buttle Lake campsite is an 86 site campsite located in Strathcona Provincial Park halfway between Gold River and Campbell River. It is open from April thru September (fees applicable).
There is a large sandy beach for beach sports and has an adventure playground for children. Two boat launch facilities are nearby. The lake has good fishing and is ideal for kayaking and exploring.
DRIFTWOOD BAY is a group campground adjacent to Buttle Lake campsite and requires reservations.
Ralph River Campsite
Ralph River is another campsite in Strathcona Provincial Park located approx. 25 km down Buttle Lake from the junction. It has 75 sites and boat launch facilities nearby.
There are four marine campsites on Buttle Lake as well: Titus, Wolf River, Rainbow Island and Phillips Creek. For more information about Strathcona Park and all it offers, go to http://www.strathcona.bc.ca
Yuquot (Friendly Cove)
Accessible only by water or by air, Yuquot (Friendly Cove) offers camping plus 6 rustic cabins on Aa-aak=quaksius (Jewitt) Lake for a unique west coast experience.
Take a walk along the smooth, pebbled beach or along a forested seaside trail to take in the breathtaking scenic landscapes; you may also be fortunate enough to watch some migrating grey or humpback whales.
For the more adventurous, this is the kick-off of the Nootka Trail along the west coast of Nootka Island.
Tuta Campground
Located approximately 25 miles of gravel road from Gold River, Tuta is a wilderness campground and marina offering 32 camp sites with picnic tables and fire pits.
Overnight rate is $25/night; boat launch included. There is great salmon fishing right at your doorstep.
